The search battle in the U.K. is for second place, with Google far ahead of the field, according to Hitwise (via PC Advisor), which says Yahoo’s share of U.K. searches has increased and is tied with that of MSN, with Yahoo Search and MSN Search each accounting for over 7 percent of U.K. Internet searches in the four weeks ended May 20. Google continues to dominate the U.K. search market, powering 77 percent of U.K. searches for the same period……………..More At……

Infospace Search & Directory said yesterday that it plans to add results from Microsoft’s MSN Search, reports DM News. Infospace has direct distribution agreements with Google, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves. It will feature MSN Search results on its branded search properties, including Dogpile, WebCrawler and MetaCrawler.

Microsoft Corp. is quickening its march into search by setting up an advisory group of industry insiders to preview its search-engine plans and research.
Microsoft’s Internet division has invited dozens of Webloggers, researchers and others to its Redmond, Wash., campus next week for an event called “Search Champs.” They are scheduled to hear about and test upcoming features for MSN Search and to meet researchers from Microsoft Research, according to several people invited to participate.
